Predicting the Unpredictable: Our Region's Economic Forecast, During and Post-COVID

Sanjay Varshney, PhD, CFA serves as the Senior Vice President and Investment Strategy Specialist in the Wealth Management Group at Wells Fargo Private Bank, overseeing a team of portfolio managers with more than $200 billion under management in California and Nevada. He also serves as a professor of finance and chief economist of the Sacramento Business Review at Sacramento State. He was most recently the dean of the college of business administration and vice president of Economic and Regional Partnerships at California State University, Sacramento for the past 10 years.

Sanjay has been featured widely in the local and national media, including the Sacramento Bee, Prosper Magazine, Comstock’s Business Magazine, Sacramento Magazine, the Sacramento Business Journal, KFBK, Capital Public Radio and National Public Radio, CNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox News. Why Black Lives Matter: Business Lessons from a National Movement with Dr. Angie Taylor

Dr. Angie D. Taylor is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Guardian Quest, Inc., an organization specializing in providing diversity/inclusion, leadership and organizational development training and consulting solutions for educational, governmental, corporate and military clients across North America.

In the fall of 2014, Taylor was appointed to the Washoe County School District's Board of Trustees, becoming the first African American to serve in that capacity. In January of 2016, she was elected board president by her board colleagues, who selected her to serve a second term as president in 2017. She currently serves as vice president.

Dr. Taylor has earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership. Additionally, she holds a master's degree in Public Administration and Policy (MPA) and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, all from the University of Nevada, Reno. Her background is in higher education, where she completed a 20-year career at the University of Nevada, serving in several senior leadership positions for 17 years.

Dr. Taylor is the author of “Leadership Matters: Lessons that Shaped My Leadership;” and is also an ordained minister and serves as the administrative assistant Pastor at Greater Light Christian Center in Reno, Nevada.

Retired Special Agent Gene Tierney had a distinguished three-decade-long career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He started as a professional support employee in Albuquerque, spending the last 25 years of his career as an FBI Special Agent based in Las Vegas.

During his time on the force, he investigated violent crime/major offenders, drug violations, online child sexual predators and complex financial crime. He served on the Fugitive Task Force from 1996 to 1999 and the Joint Terrorism Task Force from 2005 to 2006.

He was the recipient of the 2019 SOAR (Safety Officer Award Recognition) award. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in criminology from Western New Mexico University in 1989.
